Endometriosis is a condition in which tissue very similar to that of the uterine lining grows outside the uterus, mostly causing pain or other discomforting symptoms. This tissue might appear on the ovaries, fallopian tubes, and in the pelvic lining. This might be necessary in dangerous menstrual cramps, pain in the pelvis, pain during sexual intercourse, infertility, and many other uncomfortable symptoms. The cause of endometriosis is still not known, although this phenomenon is known to impair quality of life. Diagnoses are usually made by pelvic examination, imaging tests, or laparoscopy. Treatment most often involves pain management, hormonal therapies, or surgical removal of endometrial tissue growth. Thus, the key to the management of symptoms and the promotion of overall well-being lies in early diagnosis and a comprehensive treatment plan.
