RECANALIZATION

Recanalization refers to the surgical restoration of the patency of blocked or damaged fallopian tubes in a bid to regain fertility. This type of surgery is primarily used by people who are infertile due to blocked fallopian tubes from some prior surgical procedure or other pelvic inflammatory disease. The procedure is undertaken to clear blockages in, or repair a portion of, the fallopian tubes. Most procedures are performed using minimally invasive techniques such as laparoscopy. By reopening the pathway through which the eggs travel from the ovaries to the uterus, recanalization enhances a person's chance of natural conception. It opens hope for the childless couples suffering from tubal factor infertility, making it possible for them to create their families and procreate.
