Level 2 ultrasonography, also known as a detailed or targeted ultrasound, is a thorough imaging test conducted during the second trimester of pregnancy, typically between 18 and 22 weeks. This advanced ultrasound provides an accurate assessment of the anatomy of the fetus and diagnoses a structural abnormality or developmental problem. It performs detailed surveys of the fetal organs, brain, spine, heart, and limbs, while it examines the placenta and amniotic fluid. Level 2 ultrasonography has a very important role in early detection so that timely interventions or further diagnosis could be carried out for proper prenatal care and planning for a healthy outcome of pregnancy.
